Basic Qualifications

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is rapidly expanding its University program and is on the lookout for an organized, data-driven, creative, and enthusiastic individual to join us as a University Relations Lead. In this pivotal role, you'll contribute to our strategy of nurturing a high-quality talent pool to drive our company's growth. Working closely with hiring managers, GDMS ambassadors, and our recruiting team, you'll help us build a workforce equipped with the skills essential to advance our business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and executing college recruiting processes, encompassing university activities, special events, student organization engagement, and on-campus recruiting events.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with Career services, faculty, administrators, and student groups at key colleges and universities.
  • Creating informative reports to evaluate recruitment processes, measure performance, and demonstrate ROI, all of which are critical for data-driven strategies and assessing the quality of our hires.
  • Collaborating with Engineering Ambassadors to maintain a talent pipeline to support our workforce planning.
  • Partnering with various lines of business to plan and develop joint venture opportunities with key universities, particularly on Capstone program initiatives.
  • Proactively researching and suggesting innovative sourcing strategies for recent college graduates.
  • Developing presentations for college students and campus teams, including hiring managers.
  • Collaborating across various recruiting efforts, including Military and Diversity Recruiting, as a valuable member of our specialty recruiting team.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Managing the recruitment process through iCIMS systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Generating and sharing reports on recruiting statuses, trends, and outcomes.
  • Collaborating with hiring managers to document job requirements for requisitions.
  • Identifying the most effective recruiting sources for advertising and posting job positions.
  • Enhancing our company's image and conducting external advertising campaigns through social media.
  • Building candidate networks and pre-screening resumes, conducting interviews, and possibly reference checks.
  • Evaluating the performance of electronic candidate evaluation tools.
  • Documenting candidate evaluations and the interview process, and negotiating or supporting hiring managers in creating compensation packages.
  • Coordinating with employment background checks and recruitment agencies.
  • Supporting college recruiting, affirmative action, and career development programs.
  • Organizing research recruiting, employment fairs, and internet searches.
  • Developing relationships with university and college staff and other talent pool sources.
  • Ensuring that staffing initiatives align with the company's business direction.
  • Providing management with necessary recruitment reports.
  • Staying updated on EEO, ADA legislation, and government compliance requirements.
  • Collaborating with various stakeholders, including employees, HR teams, vendors, and applicants.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • We need an experienced professional known for creative problem-solving. This role is the peak of a career-oriented journey, involving diverse challenges and requiring sound judgment in selecting problem-solving methods. You'll excel in building productive relationships, understanding business needs, and influencing management.

  • This role demands advanced decision-making skills, and while you won't need daily instruction, you may receive general guidance on new tasks. You may also guide other team members but lack disciplinary authority.

  • Strong organization, presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills are crucial. You should be well-versed in applicant tracking systems, various staffing models, and candidate generation techniques.

  • Knowledge of EEO, AA, behavioral interviewing, sourcing, and database use is essential. If you can secure candidates with secret clearances, show initiative on assignments, and professionally execute projects with minimal direction, we encourage you to apply.
