Job Summary

Support the API Statistics Program by analyzing statistical data, designing surveys, and benchmarking studies, and overseeing the production of recurring and one-time statistical reports.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Analyze statistical data and provide support to API programs, advocacy efforts, communications, and external customer engagement.
  • Leverage programming languages to extract, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends and patterns.
  • Work with the Weekly Statistical Bulletin (WSB) team to produce the WSB report including data entry; auditing the data to ensure data quality and accuracy; and report generation.
  • Oversee the production of the weekly Regional Gasoline Price Update report.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on creating and editing surveys, gathering data requirements, and ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Conduct data analysis, benchmarking, and report generation.
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager in analyzing and reporting midstream pipeline data from the U.S. DOT's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), the API Pipeline Strategic Data Tracking System (PSDTS), and other governmental/regulatory agencies.
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager in providing support to the Office of the Chief Economist in the production of the Monthly Statistical Report.
  • Oversee the analysis, compilation, and reporting of the data from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Form 6 database.
  • Assist in the evaluation of enforcement actions in the industry's pipeline activities and using the results to produce benchmark reports for pipeline operators.
  • Assist in the evaluation and modification of the department's applications, data management, and analytical software.
  • Provide the Communications department with information needed to write press releases and communication materials, as necessary.
  • Identify research, analysis, and business opportunities to better serve API member companies and to generate revenues for the Program.
  • Contribute to the development of a Statistics Program Procedures Manual, documenting processes and procedures used in the collection, management, and distribution of data.

Key Relationships

  • Work with IT staff engaged in programming report code.
  • Coordinate with the API staff and managers to develop and deliver Statistics Department work products.

Qualifications

  • Requires 0-3 years of experience in a similar role and subject matter expertise.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area, or other related field equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ years experience in statistical issues particularly those related to the petroleum industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team-oriented skills are essential.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access).
  • Familiarity with any programming tools e.g., SAS, Python, SQL, R, and VBA.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer.
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc. on occasion.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines.
  • Transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%
