Position Summary
The Program Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of an SLC Tutoring center: assisting tutoring center staff, students, and TCC instructors by providing administrative and clerical support. They will support the center by providing leadership, management, and mentoring of front staff; assisting in the management of Front Desk operations.

This position reports to the Program Specialist and the Program Director of the Writing & Tutoring Center or the Program Coordinator and the Program Director of the Science, Engineering & Math (SEM) Tutoring Center.

Essential Functions

  • Assist Program Specialist/Coordinator in overseeing front desk staff, front desk staff work, and the daily function and operation of the center:
  • Assist Program Specialist/Coordinator and Program Director in keeping all staff updated regarding center policies and procedures and follow them consistently.
  • Be an initial point of contact in the tutoring center.
  • Role model excellent customer service, referral skills, and student support.
  • Be familiar with the resources and services offered in the tutoring center, Student Learning Centers (SLCs), and TCC and communicate clearly with others about these resources/services.
  • Collaborate with Program Specialist/Coordinator to assist in developing, training, mentoring, and supporting the front desk team, offering informal feedback, and developing and leading regular Front Desk Discussion Groups.
  • Assist students at Front Desk where needed and organize, tidy up, and clean the front desk and tutoring center as needed, and delegate these duties when appropriate;
  • Determine student-facing program needs (materials, information, space, supplies, etc.) and report to supervisor;
  • Collaborate with supervisor, as well as Lead and Head staff, to delegate, coordinate, and complete center projects;
  • Open and/or close the center when needed;
  • Maintain excellent communication with Director, tutoring staff and supervisor;
  • Participate in all center related trainings;
  • Work on other program related tasks as requested by the supervisor.
  • WTC: Oversee the WTC handout library and manage Workflows resources;
  • SEMTC: Administer the calculator rental program: running reports, creating billing spreadsheets, placing and removing holds, collecting resources and other related tasks. (must have excel experience)
  • SEMTC: Manage overdue resources: create a list, contact students, and other related tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School graduation or equivalent, or TCC student.
  • 2 years' experience with customer service.
  • Proficiency with word, excel, and outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current TCC student or TCC graduate.
  • Previous work experience in one of TCC's Tutoring Centers.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Commitment to multiple quarters is preferred.
  • Previous experience with TutorTrac, TracCloud, or similar database.

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment.
  • Commitment of 12-17 hours per week.

Terms of Employment
These non-permanent hourly positions are bound by the WAC 357-04-045 provisions above and are scheduled to work up to 17 hours per week. The salary is $19.06-$19.06 per hour. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet department needs. TCC Part-time hourly and student employees including work study students, will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Hourly non-student employees may be applicable for comprehensive health care benefits package for you and your dependents includes medical, dental and vision insurance.
