Position Summary
Under administrative direction this position performs advanced analysis, design, technical coding, and database management tasks to resolve complex application database issues. The Database Administrator is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment, reporting and implementation of new technologies.

Essential Functions

  • MS SQL Server Database Administrator providing technical and strategic direction on all TCC databases. This includes:
    • Advising and consulting with management, teams, and system developers
    • Providing advice and consultation to external customers
    • Maintain the database application environment and support multiple customers that utilize the college's mission critical applications.
  • Provide database administration support for all database software and utilities for TCC mission critical applications. The position is not limited to MS SQL Server databases but must also perform MS SQL management functions.
  • Planning and participating in scheduled disaster recovery exercises.
  • Ensuring that all databases have recovery plans, and all services meet TCC standards and requirements.
  • Responsible for installing software and making changes into production environments while mitigating or minimizing customer impacts.
  • Developing and maintaining reports for TCC reporting requirements in SSRS and other BI platforms.
  • Designing, coding, testing, and documenting all new or modified reports and their interface other to applications and programs.
  • Developing ETL tasks in SSIS to support multiple systems or applications where data import or export is necessary for system requirements. This can include developing and supporting SQL Server interfaces for other TCC applications, such as OnBase and Slate.

    Duties of the position's required experience

    • Experience building, maintaining, troubleshooting, backing up, and repairing MS SQL Server database environments.
    • Integration of Microsoft Azure services with SQL Server.

    • Experience as an administrator performing system/database of Microsoft SQL Server services on a daily basis. This experience will be demonstrated by showing knowledge in the following areas:
      • Monitor and support Microsoft SQL server products/services for versions 2016 or higher.
      • Install and configure Microsoft SQL server products/services for versions 2016 or higher.
      • Automation tools and techniques using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services.
      • Design and architect multiple of Microsoft SQL Server environments over multiple servers.
      • Programming languages such as TSQL, Windows Scripting, and PowerShell
      • Design and develop reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services or other BI tools (such as Power BI or Tableau)

    Terms of Employment
    This is a full-time professional position contracted on an annual basis. The salary is $112,798-112,798 annually. The work hours are Monday through Friday; 7:00am to 4:00 pm. Must be available occasional evenings, nights, and weekends as needed. Summer schedule may vary to four 10-hour days. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department.
