Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Duro-Last Roofing, a Division of Holcim Solutions and Products US, LLC, has an opening for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at our Corporate Headquarters located in Saginaw, MI. This position will ensure that all policies, programs, and daily operations comply with all local, state, and federal laws as well as Duro-Last's core values and policies. This is a full-time, salary-based position on 3rd shift with excellent benefits and growth opportunities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Composes, administers and implements OSHA required occupational and workplace safety programs. Develop, implement, and manage compliance programs to keep with current regulatory standards. Evaluate and improve procedures to facilitate safe work practices.
  • Audits facilities and departmental operations for compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Maintain records and inspections related to workplace safety, fire and life safety programs and projects. Prepare related reports and correspondence for insurance inspectors and state fire marshal. Ensure all discrepancies are corrected or mitigated.
  • Collaborates with professionals to assess health risks, and address health issues or concerns of students and employees. Provide support services and make recommendations for repair or replacement of personal protective equipment.
  • Coordinates and schedules building inspections to identify potential fire hazards. Coordinates the operation and preventative maintenance programs for all fire protection systems and life safety. Locates and identifies fire code violations and issues Notice of Violations or Notice of Opportunity to Correct.
  • Develops action plans and evaluates programs for operational and funding needs. Investigates hazardous material releases, accidents, near misses and complaints. Assist in the implementation of corrective actions and provides status reports to the Supervisor.
  • Manages and coordinates disposal of solid waste and recycling.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or three to five years of previous experience.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, and bend at the waist.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills, and training background.
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license in good standing to meet the company's driving requirements.
  • Must be familiar with Code of Federal Regulation Title 40, Radiation Safety Certification, and must have OR have the ability to obtain HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Must be able to perform tasks at heights greater than 10 ft.
  • Must be able to obtain certifications in power equipment and fall prevention.
  • Must be able to work in different environments such as: Office, Inclement Weather, Hot & Noise.
  • Ability to travel for company business up to 30% of the year.
