A leader in nursing education for more than 40 years, UCF College of Nursing is doing MORE to ensure a healthier future for all. With a new, permanent home at UCF's Academic Health Sciences Center, we will have more space to prepare more Knight nurses with academic excellence and more opportunity to impact more lives with innovative, interdisciplinary research.

The Opportunity

The College of Nursing invites applications for part-time research support positions on an NIH-funded randomized clinical trial that examines cancer-treatment related side effects and symptom management in adults under treatment for cancer.

Responsibilities:

This position will provide support for a research study in the College of Nursing. The research assistant recruits participants, collects data and conducts data management for the research study under the supervision of the faculty.



  • Screens for potential participants who may be eligible to participate in the study.

  • Coordinates and schedules participants for interviews and data collection.

  • Recruits participants.

  • Completes the informed consent process.

  • Collects data through questionnaires.

  • Delivers the intervention.

  • Participates in the ordering and organization of data collection supplies.

  • Abstracts data from medical records, as needed.

  • Performs lab procedures to collect, transport, and store biological specimens (e.g., blood, saliva), as needed.

  • Enters data into study databases (e.g., Qualtrics, RedCap).

  • Prepares study materials.

  • Follows-up with participants by phone/ e-mail.

  • Maintains accurate records through daily data entry and tracking of participant data.

  • Communicates with other research team members.

  • Participates in weekly project meetings.

  • Ensures data are maintained in proper format as required by study sponsor.

  • Generates project reports for the supervisor or study coordinator.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree and 0+ years of relevant experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field.

  • Research experience.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle diverse tasks simultaneously.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Creative thinking, self-direction, and detail-oriented.

  • Ability to work closely and communicate effectively with multiple nursing faculty.

  • Familiar with programs such as Excel, Redcap, and Qualtrics.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The research assistant may be required to work at various locations, including the College of Nursing campus, Orlando Health Medical Center, various locations of the Orlando Health Cancer Institute, and other clinical sites, as needed.
