Overview

Located five miles from downtown Boston, Tufts University is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the highly-competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Tufts students participate in 30 varsity sports, 32 club sports and a number of intramural sports. Tufts Athletics has won eleven NCAA team championships since 2010 and has finished in the top 10 of the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup in each of the last eight years, including winning the Director's Cup in 2022 as the top Division III Athletic Department in the nation. Tufts Athletics oversees the Physical Education Department and manages all athletics facilities, including the Steve Tisch Sports & Fitness Center. What You'll Do

Tufts University is accepting applicants for a 10-month full-time athletic trainer to begin August 1, 2024. The role of the Athletic Trainer is to provide high quality athletic training services to varsity student-athletes, as well as student-athletes on the club rugby team. Provide appropriate sports medicine coverage at assigned intercollegiate practices and athletic events. Work under the supervision of the Tufts University team physicians. Provide medical coverage to the intercollegiate athletic programs including prevention, education, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and administration of all athletic injuries. Uphold responsibilities to ensure that the health and long-term well-being of the student-athlete is paramount in the decision to return the student to athletics participation following an injury. This role will prioritize efficient and comprehensive communication and collaboration as a part of a sports medicine unit adhering to all University, State, and National standards, practices, and regulations.

Essential Functions:

* Treats and rehabilitates student-athletes to enable return to full activity levels.

* Conducts pre-season screening and assessments to identify and prevent injuries.
* Administers first aid and emergency techniques; applies tape, bandages, and braces to injuries.
* Recommends new or modified care treatment; documents injuries, treatments, referrals and reports.
* Assists team physician during clinic hours.
* Travels with and/or oversees assigned varsity sports teams.
* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine / Department of Athletics.

Athletic Trainers are employed by Tufts University for 10 months out of the calendar year. Compensation shall be pro-rated based on the portion of a full-time position for which the staff member is employed. Pro-rated range: 39,833 - 49,875 - 59,917


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirement:

* Bachelor's degree
* One (1) year of experience in a collegiate athletic training environment
* Athletic Training Certification (ATC)
* Massachusetts state licensure or eligible
* Excellent writing, interpersonal and organizational skills
* Availability to work night and weekend events
* Adherence to Tufts University's Immunization and Screening Policy

Preferred Experience:

* Master's degree in athletic training or related field
* Two (2) years of experience in a collegiate athletic training environment
* Manual therapy experience
* CPR Instructor Certification


Pay Range

Minimum $47,800.00, Midpoint $59,850.00, Maximum $71,900.00

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
