Summary
As the Senior Product Manager, Platform Operations, you will define and drive product vision and strategy within Workiva's Platform Operations team. This team is tasked with proactively identifying and developing new internal products and solutions that advance platform performance, operational excellence and enable developer efficiency. Your primary customers will be the Workiva business and its R&D group. You will work closely with our internal users and business stakeholders to understand their needs and pain points and prioritize and sequence feature development and releases leading to significant and tangible business value. You will build strong working relationships across multiple engineering, design, project management, and business teams, and work closely with senior leaders within product development and across the company.

The right individual for the Senior Product Manager role within the Platform Operations team should have a strong background in the key technical areas associated with operating large distributed systems in production, such as Amazon Web Services, Cloud Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering, and Software Observability. They will leverage their understanding of these areas to inform decision-making, prioritize features, and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure successful internal product development. This role requires effectiveness in working in a highly technical product area with diverse users, and candidates should possess the ability and appetite to rapidly learn about new fields and technologies.

What You'll Do

  • Deeply understand the needs of our business and customers to build clarity on the requirements to build a resilient, reliable product

  • Influence stakeholders and engineers with the right data points by driving clarity and alignment

  • Create and drive alignment to execute faster, communicate often and highlight risk early

  • Collaborate extensively with cross functional teams, including Engineering, User Experience, Customer Success, and Go-to-market teams to drive the vision, roadmap and delivery of the product

  • You will be an expert in identifying long-term investment opportunities and engaging partners to garner support for those feature areas

  • You will own the roadmap for the product, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholder to execute the vision

  • As an expert, you will partner with others to collect performance metrics and form hypotheses for complex technical needs in order to improve product development in multiple areas

  • Use your insights and knowledge from enterprise customers, as well as broad technical subject matter expertise, to train and enable a scalable product

What You'll Need

Minimum qualifications

  • 6 years of related experience in a product role in software or other related field

  • Bachelor's degree; an advanced degree may be considered in lieu of professional experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience and proficiency in utilizing AWS services for building and managing distributed systems.

  • Knowledge of tools and practices for monitoring, logging, and tracing software systems to ensure visibility and troubleshoot issues effectively.

  • Expertise in designing, and delivering products targeting cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring scalability and reliability.

  • MBA degree

  • A proven track record of leading the development of product vision and strategy

  • Experience delivering software in an agile development environment using continuous deployment techniques

  • Shipped products with great customer experience user reviews

  • A self-starter mindset to execute in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • An excellent understanding of product development and how web technologies work

  • Ability to work collaboratively in an environment that promotes constant team communication

  • Strong Leadership skills - the ability to influence and inspire across multiple teams and job functions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and prioritization skills

Travel Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% for team and corporate meetings, fostering relationships and representing company interests

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, as we embrace flexible work arrangements

How You'll Be Rewarded

Salary range in the US: $120,000.00 - $204,000.00

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
