Job Summary

DRS Naval Electronics is looking for a Systems Engineer with Test & Project Engineering skillsets working in a hybrid model work environment from our offices in Burnsville, MN. The role is to support existing Navy Infrastructure programs to support management of our customer's technical data package and lead efforts addressing obsolescence issues involving identification and resolution which includes all activities for design, implementation, and qualification. The candidate will also support initiatives collaborating with customers and key stakeholders developing qualification plans and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, the candidate will be responsible for assigned technical solutions, efficient execution, and task completion on time and within budget. Ability to work independently is a key capability needed for this role.

  • Manage customer technical data package and employ rigorous Change Management controls
  • Identify obsolescence issues and develop resolution plans to maintain customer delivery dates and continued production deadlines.
  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring and managing assigned engineering projects
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.
  • Support modular enclosure design initiative efforts.
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.
  • Create system/subsystem test environments, procedures, plans and schedules
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
  • Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.
  • Develop and execute plans to retire key development and technical risks.
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required.
  • Participates in preparation of proposals.
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to cross functional team members.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Technical degree (Master or Bachelor of Science) in relevant field with at least 5 years of direct experience related to Systems with Test & Project Engineering skillsets and must have demonstrated success in similar technical environments. Self-starting, self-directed candidate with excellent oral and written communication skills.Capable of achieving project objectives and be able to interface with various levels of internal team members, management, program sponsors, sub-contractors and customers.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain aUS Security Clearance - US Citizenship required.
  • The following skillsare expected, though applicants are not required to have every skill listed:
    • Familiarity with requirements management processes and tools (e.g., DOORS)
    • Strong Configuration Management approach for customer Technical Data Packages
    • Ability to troubleshoot and plan approach to resolution of failures from environmental qualification and factory acceptance testing
    • Experience with multiple engineering disciplines is a plus (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Safety, Software)
    • Project management and Project skills
    • Advanced MS Office skills
    • Familiarity with DoD Environmental Military Standards and Specifications
