The Department of Geology & Geography at West Virginia University invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor of Geology with a specialization in Energy Geochemistry starting August 16, 2024. This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure position with full benefits. Research Assistant Professors are eligible for promotion, e.g., to Research Associate Professor and Research Professor; however, promotion to senior ranks is not a requirement for institutional commitment and career stability. The successful candidate will contribute to sustainable energy research in IsoBioGeM Lab using a combination of geochemistry and reactive transport modeling approaches in subsurface energy systems. The successful candidatewill be a key associate of the WVU Institute for Sustainability and Energy Research and have immediate opportunities to collaborate with WVU's long-time partners at the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Lab. WVU is an R1 research land grant university located within 90 minutes of Pittsburgh and 3.5 hours from the Washington/Baltimore area. Morgantown has been recognized as one of the most livable small cities in the U.S. There are extensive recreational opportunities, excellent public schools, and a supportive University environment in which to develop a visible and productive career.
