About the Department |
The Creative Media Industries Institute (
CMII) at Georgia State University invites applications for a Lecturer position in Game Design. The position will begin in August 2024, pending budgetary approval. |
Position Description |
The lecturer will be responsible for designing and teaching undergraduate courses related to game design in their area of expertise. An ideal candidate is flexible and able to teach a variety of topics in game design (e.g., Game Design, 3D Modeling, Animation, Audio Design, Mobile Games, AI & Games, Game Art, Writing & Previsualization for Games). In addition, the lecturer will participate in some advising and course development and may also connect to instruction in a recently launched
MFA in Virtual Production & Visual Effects.
Lecturers at Georgia State University teach eight courses annually and perform departmental service, but are not required to sustain a traditional research program. Lecturers are promotion eligible after five years to Senior Lecturer and then five years later may be considered for promotion to Principal Senior Lecturer. |

Required Education |
A terminal degree or its equivalent in game design, computer science, computer art or a related field is required. |
Preferred Qualifications/Experience |
Candidates who are expected to receive their degrees by July 2024 will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with game industry or independent design experience. Prior experience in teaching game design courses is a strong plus. |
