About the role
The Brooklyn Museum seeks an Assistant to support its dynamic Corporate Relations department, and fulfill crucial administrative and operational functions. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for a development professional looking to enhance their skills and expertise in the field of corporate philanthropy and museum corporate sponsorships. The Development Assistant will be responsible for data management (Raiser's Edge); gift processing and acknowledgement; prospect research and moves management; and assisting on the development, refinement, and submission of proposals. They will also provide critical support for an exciting roster of special projects and events with high profile corporate partners.
Responsibilities


  • Conduct prospect research and prepare briefing materials for meetings with potential or current sponsors. Continuously monitor news, philanthropic publications, Winmo, and alerts to identify new prospects
  • Manage sponsorship credit line inclusion on the Museum's platforms such as web, social, onsite, etc.
  • Coordinate onsite activations and events for corporate members and sponsors, including curator-led tours, First Saturday events, Yoga on the Stoop programs, etc. Occasional weekend work is required
  • Assist the Director in managing appointments, meetings, and travel
  • Assist with writing, developing, and copyediting collateral materials, reports, proposals, and decks for current and prospective sponsors
  • Serve as the department's primary user of Raiser's Edge: build and maintain prospect management and research queries, constituent records, and reports in the database
  • Work with the Finance team to reconcile accounts, including all gifts, invoices, and expenses. Track all department income and assist the Director with financial forecasting
  • Draft and execute donor acknowledgment letters for all department gifts
  • Coordinate gift processing with the development operations department
  • Maintain digital donor files and agreements and advise on best practices on information storage, retrieval, and reporting
  • Led by the Director, participate in planning long- and short-term development strategies to meet department fundraising and DEIA goals



Qualifications


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and superb attention to detail
  • Aptitude for maintaining and creating systems with facility working with numbers
  • Excellent time management, capacity to handle multiple tasks, and ability to prioritize among competing deadlines
  • Results-oriented with an interest in social action, fine arts, fashion, marketing, and/or philanthropy
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Raiser's Edge and Winmo is preferred

Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm; This position is subject to occasional overtime and weekend hours
