About the role
This new role is responsible for driving customer experience and sales innovation within the retail team at the Brooklyn Museum. This role manages the sales and customer processes to bring the store experience to life, ensuring accountability to an elevated level of service. A typical day for this role might include developing product profiles for a new brand partner, 1x1 performance review meeting with a shop associate, onboard new shop associate about the retail team assortment approach, and meeting with the Senior Buyer to provide shop floor insights around visual merchandising and product whitespace. This is a full time on-site position and reports to the Director of Retail Operations.
Responsibilities


  • In depth brand and service training - Ensure product knowledge and customer experience training is at the forefront of all customer-facing touchpoints. Coach store team to elevated standards of customer service and engagement, brand identity, product knowledge, and operations. Collaborate with buyers to ensure diverse access points of product information. Maintain a training schedule and coordinate logistics of engaging with brand representatives to ensure shop staff has in depth training where needed. Provide timely training, coaching, and feedback to enable team success.
  • Shop staff training manual - Develop product and service training guidelines to all existing and new shop associates. Create an onboarding and training manual to shop staff. Continuously update the content to ensure it captures the latest assortment. Regularly review training materials with each shop team member on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure accountability to sales targets and store ops guidelines - Support driving store sales and achieving store sales goals. In collaboration with Retail team leadership, maintain, track, and report shop staff training history and identify areas of opportunity. Continuously calibrate training content based on sales reports and key product areas Retail leadership seeks to push. Ensure seamless communication and execution of required actions and consistent execution of visual merchandising standards.
  • Hands on sales floor modeling - Drive excellence in customer service in store by modeling brand service standards. Monitor customer feedback and address all customer concerns quickly. Ensure store team engages with each customer to create an authentic brand experience. Display an understanding of all associate roles.
  • Support execution of store events - continue to activate retail operations and store environment in dynamic ways that support museum initiatives, generate brand awareness and drive traffic. Ensure seamless coordination of logistics, from event setup to breakdown



Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in the retail field
  • Proficient in Google Suite
  • Experience working in Shopify is a plus
  • Self starter and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills
  • Strong planning skills with a sense of priority and attention to detail within a revenue driven atmosphere
  • Must be flexible, highly-motivated and a forward-thinker
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
