About the role

As the HRIS & Payroll Manager, you will be a collaborative leader, partnering closely with other cross-functional teams such as Finance, Technology, and Legal to ensure that our HRIS data and payroll processes align with the institution's broader objectives. Your ability to lead, adapt, and provide innovative solutions is key to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Payroll


  • Manage the entire biweekly payroll process for all staff, including special payroll actions, timekeeping, validation, and reporting
  • Create and maintain documentation of payroll procedures, processes, and timelines, with data quality and integrity always at top of mind
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Lead ongoing internal payroll audits to ensure accuracy; report to leadership on any issues flagged
  • Lead annual audits for CIRS (401(k) and pension), workers' compensation, and fiscal year payroll audit for Finance department; submit monthly DCA city funding reports and update as necessary
  • Collaborate with DEIA department to ensure equitable application of compensation system
  • Work on ad hoc tasks, assignments, and projects as needed


HRIS


  • Oversee and maintain the Museum's HRIS, including database management, data accuracy, and systems integrations
  • Serve as a technical point-of-contact and subject matter expert for HRIS and payroll processingBe responsible for data integrity, report writing, analyzing data flows, and identifying trends for process improvement opportunities and proper reporting
  • Proactively analyze reports and provide insights for leadership to support decision-making and strategic planning


Qualifications


  • 5+ years of payroll management experience
  • 3+ years of in-depth HRIS management experience
  • A strong understanding of labor laws, tax codes, data privacy regulations, and compliance requirements related to HR and payroll functions
  • Deep knowledge of state and federal payroll and tax regulations; prior experience working with NYC Department of Cultural Affairs funding reports preferred
  • High proficiency in data analysis and report building; able to generate meaningful reports using Excel formulas
  • Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships at all levels of the Museum
  • Ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees, departments, divisions, etc.

Salary: $99,960

FLSA status: Exempt

Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm
