Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Regional Engineering Manager will work alongside our Business Development Team to develop solutions that solve our clients' facilities, operational, and financial challenges. They will then support these solutions as they progress through our design process, coordinating with other engineers, drafters, construction professionals, and commissioning agents.

  • Manage Product Development efforts in an assigned region and coordinates those efforts with the business development leadership in that region.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor one or more Project Development Engineers.
  • Perform preliminary and conceptual engineering tasks and important preliminary engineering work such as energy analysis and modeling efficiently and accurately.
  • Support business development activities which lead to award of the contract including client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, teaming arrangements, proposal preparation support, oral presentation support, and contract negotiation.
  • Work with business development team to pre-qualify projects before committing resources for tasks such as Preliminary Assessment.
  • Coordinate with pre-construction team to obtain project development budget estimates for Preliminary Audit & IGA Stages.
  • Track deadlines, targets, and budgets on projects in the Preliminary and Design stages.
  • Extract engineering information from drawings. Support engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Coordinate with internal and external designers on a variety of design deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for RFP, procurement, and construction purposes.
  • Manage overall deliverables and development schedule.
  • Manage client expectations throughout the preliminary and design phases and coordinates with the design, pre-construction, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure that the design, procurement, and commissioning strategies limit scope creep and are capable of profitability delivering the required scope within the client's budget.
  • May be required to provide the deal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or a related field of engineering is required.
  • PE is preferred.
  • Additional project development, engineering, and energy related professional certifications are a plus (e.g. LEED-AP, CEM, ASHRAE, DBIA, etc.)
  • Seven or more years of progressive project development experience.
  • Experience in Public Sector energy engineering with Cities, Counties and School Districts preferred.
  • Excellent initiative, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrates engineering and analytical acumen to develop complex solutions and build credibility.
  • Experience working on complex projects and interdisciplinary teams of professionals.
  • Moderate regional travel required with possibility of limited national travel; overnight travel about 20%.
