The Peabody Essex Museum, one of the largest and most dynamic art museums in the nation, is seeking highly motivated, committed and outgoing people to engage with visitors and enhance experiences as Visitor Engagement Advocates.

Visitor Engagement Advocates are responsible for providing high quality services to museum visitors. They are an accessible presence in the museum galleries, and engage with visitors in order to expand the visitor experience. The Visitor Engagement model within PEM is a visitor centered model that provides the best possible experience on the visitor's terms. All Visitor Engagement Advocates are trained in the hybrid mix of visitor oriented services, Security-conscious skills and Guide-level knowledge of the galleries and exhibitions.

Visitor Engagement Advocates are comfortable conversing and interacting with the general public, have excellent problem solving skills and are able to remain calm in varied situations. They should also be proficient with computers and have an aptitude and desire to learn and share knowledge. A strong candidate will have a friendly, personable manner, a genuine interest in art, and a desire to engage with people.

Hired candidates must be available to work 24 hours per week, Thursday through Monday. Weekend and evening hours are required. Additional hours for special programming may also apply. Conversational fluency in a language other than English a plus.
