Description

The Operations Manager for US Medical Affairs plays an integral role in managing the department's core functions, with a focus on organizational efficiency, communications, project management, contract management, and budget oversight. The US Medical Affairs Operations Manager is the owner of departmental projects and leads the Medical Affairs Operations Team, partnering closely with other key medical affairs team members, compliance, finance, legal, quality, purchasing, marketing, and vendors.

Primary Duties

  • Support the development, alignment, and implementation of strategic goals and long-range plans to achieve operational excellence and meet deliverables
  • Contribute to the strategic planning, operations, and other activities related to the pipeline and established products assets
  • Evaluate business processes and initiatives to determine appropriate interventions to meet departmental goals
  • Lead operational activities associated with key medical affairs deliverables such as scientific advisory boards in collaboration with medical affairs colleagues
  • Liaise with finance business partners to align monthly budget reporting and quarterly forecasting
  • Develop and maintain project timelines and budgets
  • Develop and manage new and revised SOPs
  • Lead collaborations with operations contacts within global medical affairs and other regional medical affairs teams to align on best practices and information sharing
  • Foster compliant working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

Training and Education

Bachelor's degree in Science, Healthcare, or Business related background

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience within related field or life-science company
  • 1+ years of people leadership management experience
  • Project management experience or PMP certification preferred
  • Experience in executing large, cross-functional initiatives using a project management framework within business operations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and collaborate with team members and management
  • Well organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with team members, management, and internal/external partners
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Understanding of contracting challenges with ability to develop effective resolutions
  • Intermediate to advanced competency and experience with a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Suite, MS Project, SharePoint, and/or other related project management tools

Approx. 20-25% domestic travel, 5% international travel
