Position Summary: The Family Wellness Program provides comprehensive trauma-informed services to families who are affected by intimate partner violence. Our goal is to help those who have experienced physical, emotional, or other forms of abuse to establish long-term safety and heal from the effects of trauma. The Case Manager/Advocate will assist families, city-wide, who have been affected by intimate partner violence to obtain any and all services needed to gain safety and stability. Case Manager will report to the Director of Clinical IPV Services.

Essential Duties:



  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, comprehensive case management, and short-term counseling for survivors of intimate partner violence;
  • Conduct comprehensive intake and needs assessments for survivors of intimate partner violence and their families;
  • Provide clients with crisis counseling and short-term counseling as needed;
  • Assist with obtaining services including, but not limited to: safe housing, public benefits, emergency financial assistance, health care, intimate partner violence counseling, mental health services, substance abuse services, educational services, legal advocacy and representation, and other needed services;
  • Complete referrals and follow up on services;
  • Make phone calls and write letters to advocate on behalf of clients;
  • Assist clients in completing applications, filing claims for Office of Victim Services compensation, and applying for and advocating for benefits available;
  • Assist clients in applying for emergency assistance through the New York Times Neediest Cases fund, in collaboration with Children's Aid's Office of Client Advocacy;
  • Accompany clients with appointments related to accessing services;
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner and adhere to contractual expectations;
  • Track contractual data in real-time for quarterly reporting;
  • Keep comprehensive client files with all relevant information for audit purposes;
  • Maintain multiple databases for internal and external reporting and monitoring;
  • Conduct community outreach, including program presentations and client workshops;
  • Attend all relevant Children's Aid and Family Wellness Program meetings and peer supervision;
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors and team members;
  • Provide training and consultation as needed;
  • Ability to meet with clients in our offices in Central Harlem and the South Bronx;
  • Collaborate with other service providers internally and externally as needed;
  • Perform other administrative and program support functions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Bilingual Spanish/English

  • Ability to take on a wide range of administrative tasks
  • Training and experience in case management and/or working with survivors of intimate partner violence in a trauma informed setting; Knowledge of the New York City domestic violence service system, public benefits, child welfare, housing system, and other social services.
