Senior Vision Display Optical Engineer

Do something different! Apple is looking for a world class engineer that can help build the next generation displays. You will work with both suppliers and internal teams at Apple to craft the display related technologies that go into Apple products. A successful candidate will not only need to be an excellent engineer, but also educate a broad audience of people at Apple about the benefits and tradeoffs of different designs and technologies. This position is focused on the roadmap development and prototyping execution of the display system for Apple's Vision Pro. You would work with a diverse engineering roster that includes optical engineers, human perception experts, product design engineers, and experimental physicists. We work at a fast pace and require everyone to be highly self motivated. A successful candidate needs to be a flexible thinker and be able to problem solve outside of their respective technical area. Key Qualifications

  • Engineering background in optical, opto-mechanical, or mechanical design.
  • Prior direct involvement with shipped optical systems.
  • Prior experience with injection molded optics.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of optical and polarization design.
  • Capable of prototyping, conducting design of experiments, and analytical data processing.


Description

Ownership of the Display System roadmap. Technology development and prototyping execution, including internal and external partners. Effectively communicate the advantages, disadvantage, and risks of different paths. Shepard the technologies into the internal module execution teams both external suppliers.

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 20 years relevant industry experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in consumer electronics.
  • Experience managing domestic and international vendors.


Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $199,800.00 and $364,100.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
