Staff Software Engineer, Hive (US/Canada - Remote)

Cloudera is looking for an exceptional passionate software engineer with strong distributed systems expertise to join our engineering team. Apache Hive is among the most popular open-source projects. We are looking for engineers with experience in large-scale, distributed systems to help drive Hive and build additional components around it to enhance the Hive ecosystem.

Requirements:

• BE, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science

• Passionate about programming. Clean coding habits, attention to detail, and focus on quality

• 7+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale systems with a strong understanding of scaling and performance

• 7+ years of Java experience or other OOP languages

• Hands on programmer with strong data-structures and algorithms skills. Java experience desired.

• Good understanding of database internals, query processing and query optimization

• Strong oral and written communication skills

Big pluses:

• Experience with Apache Hive/Hadoop

• Experience with NoSQL & In Memory databases

• Experience with public cloud infrastructures such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon web services and Google cloud platform

• Recognized contributions to open source projects
