The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for scheduled, unscheduled and preventative maintenance to inspect, install, and/or repair metals processing equipment (shredders, sorting technology), conveyors, motors; troubleshoot, replace or rebuild conveyor bearings, replace motors, repair screws, install conveyor belts, pan and shaker conveyors, rebuild or change gearboxes, install and modify pipe lines, repack and repair valves and assist in the modification of plant equipment & systems.

Will also learn, train, and be certified in the operation of Material Handling and mobile equipment and serve as backup operator when short staffed.

Will be trained in operation of all metals processing equipment to understand processes and order of operations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Effectively complete preventive and proactive maintenance per the schedule to prevent breakdowns on equipment.
• Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages while collaborating with other departments.
• Prioritizes work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools and utility systems to minimize production downtime and completes all required paperwork and documentation in the company's computerized maintenance documentation program.
• Utilizes maintenance documentation program to open and close out work orders, check out spare parts, and other activities as required in the plant.
• Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary.
• Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions utilizing mechanical devices.
• Ensure that equipment being repaired is tested acutely to minimize future equipment failures or downtime problems.
• Reviews maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
• Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.
• Examine objects, systems or facilities and analyze information to determine needed repairs.

• Must be able to work Scheduled & Unscheduled Outage assignments, on-call and night shift coverage rotation throughout the year

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to understand Operating and maintenance instructions, Technical procedures, read and interpret Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and other procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees.
• Basic knowledge or experience in general rigging practices, experience with basic machine and hand tools.
• Ability to perform small welding projects and knowledge in using a burning torch.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma
• Minimum of 2-4 years experience
