Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

As a Senior Advanced Optics Engineer, you'll design, develop, build and test systems and products for advanced photonic and laser technologies.The breadth of these projects includes technologies for application in free-space optical (FSO) and fiber communications, photonic integrated circuits, active and passive optical remote sensing and imaging, microwave photonics and quantum technologies.

This position involves interacting with device, hardware and software design teams to assist in the overall development of photonic systems; specifying, selecting and qualifying active and passive optical components, developing and benchmarking system performance models, developing and implementing test procedures and/or evaluating and selecting appropriate test instrumentation. You won't just be working on the cutting-edge, you'll help define it for the world.

What you bring to the table:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Solid experience in the use of optical and electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunication applications and electrical engineering design tools
  • Ability to recognize and clearly report information relevant to sound electro-optical engineering design
  • Experience with optical and RF test and measurement equipment and laboratory tools
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: Matlab, Lumerical, Zemax, VPI, Python, C/C++, and/or LabView

Target salary range: USD $152,420.00/Yr. - USD $169,000.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
