Overview

Our company is focused on opening a new frontier in spatial 3D genomics and multiomic analyses. We are committed to the development of a novel technology platform allowing progress in genome-wide visualization of spatially resolved 3D chromosome and chromatin architecture in individual cells, cell populations and tissues in situ. The Company brings together the premier spatial omics approach (OligoFISSEQ) with leading-edge imaging, data acquisition and analysis capability. The pioneering in situ technology enables examination of some of the most important questions in genomics and gene expression at the single cell and sub-cellular level. We aim to find the best talent in the field to join and contribute to this extraordinary, exciting endeavor becoming a critical member of this groundbreaking opportunity.

The candidate will be a key contributor to the Research and New Technology Development branch of the company where existing and yet to be developed spatial omics technologies will be used to solve and gain insights into biological mechanisms centered on health and disease.
  • This is a unique multi-disciplinary position that will work closely with a variety of disciplines including Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Microfluidics, Imaging and Support groups. As part of our team, you will design cutting edge approaches and experiments to map spatial gene activity and expression and develop new technologies for multiomic integration. You will conceptualize and oversee technique invention, optimization, and transfer of the leading approach to in situ imaging of gene activity, localization, and expression in diverse tissue (FF and FFPE) and cell types.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience working independently in a biochemistry or molecular biology application environment, have exceptional attention to detail, be creative, and be able to critically analyze data and communicate results to the team. They must bring a can-do attitude and sense of purpose to the job. This position must be able to independently make decisions on work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the method development, optimization, and protocol transfer of novel molecular biology assay schemes for spatial omic applications including molecular barcoding, fluorophore marking, nucleic acid hybridization, amplification and sequencing techniques and probe library preparation.
  • Assist in identifying translationally relevant biology to focus on.
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams at all stages of new technology and product development.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the interplay between chemistry, molecular biology microfluidics, imaging and bioinformatics analysis to identify the root cause of product deviations, troubleshoot them, and generate creative solutions.
  • Conceptualize, develop and oversee new chemistries for spatial multiomic applications in diverse tissue types (FF and FFPE) and cell types.
  • Independently plan and execute experiments, accurately record details, provide in-depth analysis, and report results through documentation and presentations.
  • Design approaches to protocols. Develop and optimize protocols for in situ spatial omics products and perform robustness verification of those products.
  • Responsible for application of technologies to answer translationally relevant biology.
  • Prepare protocol workflow descriptions and annotated instructions for transfer to the product development team.
  • Interface directly with product development teams to transfer and optimize new technologies.
  • Work with, mentor, and guide junior associates/ scientists in their day-to-day activities.

Qualifications

  • PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field.
  • 5+ years relevant laboratory or industry experience in life science applications, such as: next-generation sequencing library preparation, cell culture, tissue handling (fresh frozen, FFPE, etc.) microscopy, PCR, or other nucleic acid or protein-based technologies.
  • Experience applying microscopy-based technologies to answering biological problems.
  • Experience in handling and processing (attachment, fixation, clearing etc) of FF and FFPE tissue sections.
  • Experience in developing assays using nucleic acid sequencing and hybridization techniques such as FISH and molecular barcoding.
  • Experience in DNA-antibody conjugation methods.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets and communicate results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of fluorescence markers and imaging with an understanding of basic absorption and emission spectroscopy.
  • Experience developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing molecular biology assays.
  • Proven ability to mentor and work with and guide junior associates/ scientists in their day-to-day activities.

Additional desirable skills to have:

  • Experience with multiplexed, multiomic imaging technologies in tissues and cells.
  • Familiarity with basic statistical data and error analysis. Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Familiarity with different cell and tissue segmentation software and programs.
  • Experience with advanced fluorescence techniques (Single Molecule Localization Microscopy) and microscopy image analysis.
  • Experience with bioinformatics programming languages.
  • Experience in assay development on novel and prototype instrumentation and workflows.
  • Experience with new product introduction or product development process and life cycle.
  • Experience with inventing and patenting of ideas.

The Company offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, 401(k), paid vacation, holidays, and tuition assistance (as applicable).

We are an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, and other protected characteristics.

Certain positions at the Company require compliance with export control laws and a result, all interviewed candidates for all positions will be screened pre-interview to determine their eligibility in light of export control restrictions.
