REQUISITION SUMMARY

Do you get excited about developing zero-emission vehicles? PACCAR is looking for a Powertrain Configuration Engineer to take a deep dive into analyzing innovative powertrain concepts. The successful candidate will follow all the latest developments in batteries, electric motors, and hydrogen technology. In this role, the candidate will need analytical skills to help define the optimal architecture with a minimum set of modular/scalable components. The successful candidate will work with suppliers while learning to know all technical details and act as the Liaison for PACCAR to make sure the supplier technology is suitable to serve PACCAR's next-generation zero-emission trucks

This position is located at PACCAR's Lewisville, Texas office near Dallas.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with PACCAR divisions for collecting vehicle powertrain requirements (i.e. technical requirements and regulatory requirements) and requirements for connected services.
  • Interact with PACCAR divisions for understanding customer requirements and link to collecting customer field data.
  • Translate requirements and powertrain data into target setting for future powertrain configurations and cloud services.
  • Be the architect for new powertrain topologies, including specification of boundary diagrams, hardware and software interfaces, and mappings of powertrain functions into specifications at powertrain sub-components.
  • Translate powertrain requirements into mathematical objective functions and use these functions to further analyze/optimize the performance of proposed powertrain configurations and architectures.
  • Development and maintenance of PACCAR Powertrain technology roadmap and associated digital services.
  • Maintain relationships with external partners (suppliers, research & educational institutes) for scouting new technologies, leverage knowledge, and keep PACCAR abreast of new technology developments.
  • Initiate and develop new Advanced Technology projects by building consortia and writing proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS& SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Controls, or Systems Engineering. Master of Science in related field a plus.
  • Strong track record in integratingpowertrain components in automotive applications.
  • Proven knowledge in system modeling and describing key characteristics of powertrain components such as performance, efficiency, and lifetime degradation.
  • Experience in Digital/Connected Services / Cloud Services required.
  • Mathematical skills in optimization theory are preferred.
