ABOUT THE ROLE: As a Recreation Specialist, you will work to improve the lives of individuals diagnosed with cognitive impairments by, providing person-centered recreational and wellness activities that stimulate cognition, increase engagement, and decrease agitation. This will include, but is not limited to, creating virtual programming, designing newsletters, training direct care staff on new activities, coordinating field trips, and collaborating with volunteers. Administrative tasks, such as ordering supplies and managing a budget will also be required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or G.E.D. and 4 years of related experience.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or in a related field such as art, music, or physical education
Knowledge and/or experience in the principles or providing Person-Centered Care
Experience in working with individuals with Cognitive Impairments
Clinical experience in working in a group setting, acute care hospital, or rehabilitation center
Understanding of Dementia type diagnoses and other cognitive impairments
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A criminal background check is required, must be free of TB in a communicable form, must obtain and maintain certifications in First Aid and CPR
WORK SCHEDULE: 37.5hrs/week
, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Some after hours may be required due to planned programming.
