Job Description

EBAD is seeking a Senior Capture Engineer reporting to the Manager, Engineering Technology. This role is based in either Moorpark, CA or Simsbury, CT.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Capture Engineer is the development and applications engineer on new business for an assigned market segment of our business. EBAD market segments include Launch Vehicles, Missile Systems, Satellite Systems, and Warfighter. Working together with the Capture Manager and Business Development Manager, the Senior Capture Engineer identifies and proposes winning technical solutions and prepares future programs of record for success. The Senior Capture Engineer understands both customer needs and EBAD capability and continuously seeks to fill any gaps between the two by proposing and executing both rapid development efforts on capture funding and larger Internally funded Research And Development (IRAD) programs.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Lead business capture efforts as the technical point of contact with both the customer and internal stakeholders
  • Understand assigned market segment business strategy and act in support of that strategy
  • Develop creative design solutions that solve customer problems
  • Plan and execute rapid prototype builds and risk reductiontests
  • Perform and present structured design trade studies
  • Manage and mitigate capture and IR&D program technical, schedule, and cost risks
  • Estimate and manage costs for IRAD, business capture, and proposal activities
  • Identify, propose, and execute internally funded R&D projects to meet market needs in partnership with the business development team
  • Create and maintain product specifications and compliance verification for capture and IRAD projects
  • Assess design feasibility using FEA or classical mechanics
  • Create conceptual CAD models and renderings

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a BS or MS in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 8 years of experience in product design of aerospace, missile, and/or defense products.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Experience leading technical teams thru product development, from prototype to production.
  • Experience with low volume, high mix manufacturing and generation of manufacturing instructions.
  • Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing with customers and internal management
  • Commitment to safety
  • Ability to make sound judgement calls in order to proceed with minimal requirements and guidance from customers and stakeholders
  • Proficiency with solid modelling (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Ability to interpret and analyze technical specifications
  • Ability to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
  • Status as a U.S. Citizen capable of working on U.S. DoD and ITAR restricted products

Preferred Skills:

  • Electro-mechanical device integration
  • Finite element analysis
  • Knowledge of explosive materials and energetic devices

Compensation:

Salary Range: $90,000 - $155,000 per year. Salary is determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
