DataOps Engineer

We are seeking a Systems professional/DataOps Engineer with technical background and knowledge of big data foundational concepts such as relational database, data warehouse, and Data lake to help build and maintain a robust, scalable data and Machine Learning platforms in Microsoft Azure. Candidate must be well versed on general infrastructure technology and have an understanding of public and private cloud concepts such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). You will be primarily responsible for design, configuration, optimization, management, monitoring, documentation and support of Azure platform services and components, as well as supporting data ingestion to various Data Layer within GEICO's Enterprise Data Platform in Azure.

As part of our engineering team, you must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams, and establish a high trust partnership within GEICO internal business partners, and other IT groups to support company initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced system administration, operational support and problem resolution for a large complex cloud computing environment in Azure and develop scripts to automate the deployment of resource stacks and associated configurations
  • Configure and manage Machine learning platform such as snowflake and Databricks in Virtual Network in Azure, establish our core services in the VNET, enable Azure to serve as a part of MLP's network.
  • Extend MLP standard systems management processes into the cloud including change, incident, and problem management
  • Develop and maintain a library of deployable, tested, and documented automation design scripts, processes, and procedures.
  • Enable DevOps development activities and complex development tasks that will involve working with tools such as Fivetran, Kubernetes and container management systems.
  • Coordinate and bring application experts and other infrastructure teams together for finding optimal solutions to issues related to capacity, security, performance.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD solutions and create code deployment models to support self-service automation.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as a full time IT professional
  • 2+ years of experience designing and supporting cloud environments, including IaaS and PaaS
  • 3+ years of experience and good understanding of big data eco systems like Hadoop and Snowflake
  • Extensive experience and strong understanding of Azure Cloud and infrastructure components (Event Streaming, Data Transformation, Data warehouse, Azure Data Factory, and Azure data lake and services) to deliver end to end Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Strong working knowledge of networking concepts (DNS/DHCP/Azure Firewalls/Sub-netting, etc.)
  • Automation - Strong coding & scripting skills (Powershell, nodejs, python. etc)
  • experience in backend programming languages like PL/SQL, T-SQL, NZ SQL etc
  • Awareness of DB Optimization techniques pertinent to data warehouse and Snowflake
  • Understanding of data ingress & egress patterns between Big data Snowflake & different CSPs

Proficiency in Snowflake platform Architecture, function/feature is a plus.

Annual Salary

$82,000.00 - $185,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
