GEICO's DevOps CoreAutomation Teamis looking for a highly motivatedCloud Principle Engineerto assist with public cloud automation to support initiatives around automated IT Service Provisioning, Deployments and Operations. As a Principle Engineer, you bring a strong blend of software engineering experience along with Cloud/DevOps engineering experience. You will also bring a strong perspective that inspires change and who motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to complex problems, driving the engineering and operations for DevOps software development, automation, provisioning, performance management and tools across GEICO.

This role is accountable for establishing management level relationships and partnering with all business disciplines, other MI teams, outsourcing vendors, and external vendors to define and implement the DevOps Organization roadmap, building and enforcing the standards defined in it.

The successful candidate will provide Architecture leadership and implementation delivery as a Cloud Principle Engineer for all phases of the infrastructure lifecycle from ideation through execution, and ongoing management and support, with specific attention to identifying opportunities for proactive and reactive (self-healing) automation solutions across our organizations. You will develop and execute new initiatives to simplify, standardize, optimize, and automate designs, tooling, and operations to reduce implementation cycle times, eliminate service downtime, optimize performance, and ensure that all security and compliance requirements are fully governed.

Well-qualified candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and demonstrate ability to coordinate efforts across functional areas.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience in C# programming language
  • Experience with front-end development with JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS and AngularJS
  • Experience adopting open-source technology and leveraging for enterprise-enabled solutions
  • Strong understanding of SOLID principles and development best patterns and practices.
  • Overall IT knowledge with more in-depth knowledge of Networking, Security, and cloud technology, such as topologies, protocols, components, and principles
  • 5+ years of IT infrastructure technical leadership experience (matrix and/or functional) with at least 3 years of experience in utilizing the AGILE framework with SCRUM methodology.
  • Proven track record of driving transformation in cloud technologies, tools, and processes through a data-driven continuous improvement methodology
  • Proven experience performing root cause analysis of security events and incidents
  • Expert in managing code and dependencies in Azure DevOps (ADO), GIT along with other Configuration management best practices.
  • Full stack design and development experience within the Azure ecosystem including building platforms and frameworks to create consistent, verifiable, and automatic management of applications and infrastructure between non-production and production environments.
  • Play a key role in the adoption of Azure / Cloud offerings in the enterprise (Cosmos DB, Azure Service Bus, Event Hub, AKS, and more)
  • Ensure alignment with our Cloud DevOps model based on 100% automation and adoption of repeatable patterns that can be leveraged across the organization.
  • Promote the use of Azure/Cloud standardization, shared infrastructure, and shared services to reduce costs and improve information flows.
  • Ability to create Reference Architectures and standards for the Microsoft Technology stack in line with IT DevOps and Application need
  • Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products and synthesizing into clear technology roadmaps and strategies
  • Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • A self-starter demonstrating an ability to transition in technology, lead and guide architecture, and thoughtfully solve problems
  • Support internal and external audits related to SOX, ISO, PCI DSS, and state compliance
  • Experience with implementing provisioning of infrastructure utilizing Terraform (Either open source, Enterprise or cloud Terraform products), Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and practical application to virtualized Infrastructure (security services, compute, storage, and network)
  • Excellent ability to multi-task by balancing multiple projects at the same time.

Nice To Have

Certifications in areas of Cloud (Azure, AWS) or general industry certifications around cloud and security.

Annual Salary

$100,000.00 - $204,500.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
