Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field of study required

Work Experiences:

  • 5+ years of experience in inventory or general accounting
  • Knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
  • Retail experience with a large company (revenues exceeding $500 million) a plus

Skills:

  • Monthly financial entries and analysis
  • Analytical design and strong problem-solving abilities with creative resolution skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office program experience, including Word and Excel
  • Understanding of Accounts Payable and Receivable processes
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize workload, remain organized, pay attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with individuals at various levels; able to establish rapport and maintain harmonious working relationships
  • Ability to work as directed, consistently apply sound judgment, and operate professionally, effectively and ethically as an individual contributor and member of a team
  • Ability to work well independently using technical Accounting expertise and judgment, as well as effectively contribute to a team environment
  • Ability to work with large volumes of data for analysis and research
  • Experience utilizing ERP accounting systems

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process detailed accounting entries
  • Financial analysis and explanations for variances
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and determine how to resolve/correct any outstanding items
  • Facilitate the billing and collection of contractual vendor allowances
  • Oversee, maintain, and collect on all ad-hoc and marketing vendor allowances
  • Ad-hoc analysis and reporting
  • Special projects and participation in various initiatives
  • Partnerships with internal and external individuals at various levels
  • Maintain accounting controls and prepare and recommend new policies and procedures
  • Process improvement by identifying and implementing strategies to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Support external and internal auditors as needed
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures, and safety rules
  • Maintain confidentiality of Academy's financial information
  • Responsibilities may change; team members may be required to perform other tasks as assigned

Physical Requirements & Attendance:

  • Regular attendance required
  • Available outside of normal business hours as needed
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
  • Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior
