We are seeking a highly motivated roboticist to team with us in taking Intelligent Systems from concept to reality. We are a multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers focused on groundbreaking impacts in the areas of robotics, machine learning, and assured autonomy. As a Robotic Control Researcher, you will support research and development across the broad spectrum of robotics, with applications that strengthen national defense and address other critical challenges facing our nation, from space exploration to climate change.

As a Robotic Control Researcher...

  • Your primary responsibility will be defining and developing new robotic systems and algorithmic solutions to address relevant challenges. Current research areas include robot trajectory planning, adaptive control, enhanced mobility, dexterous manipulation, and autonomous robot behaviors.
  • You will help provide technical vision for multidisciplinary research.
  • You will lead and collaborate on technical proposals to grow and define robotics research.
  • You will communicate research vision, results, and impact to sponsors and the broader scientific community through papers, presentations, and technical reports.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on robotics.
  • Have 7+ year experience in defining research problems and identifying possible solutions.
  • Have recent experience in some combination of the following programming languages and tools: C, C++, C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, Unity, Perception.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical issues effectively and appropriately for a wide range of audiences.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Have experience in technical proposal writing.
