Job Description:


Our per-diem roles vary in scope dependent upon individual's qualifications and needs of the department. Per-diem roles are typically academic year only but will receive consistent scheduling based upon operational needs. These positions range from the following essential functions and may include:
  • Perform various duties to provide meals and services to students and guests following established practices and procedures. Major responsibilities include performing a variety of cleaning, washing and sanitizing duties including cleaning pots, pans, machinery, equipment, utensils, floors, etc., following prescribed routines and practices. Other responsibilities include assisting with the set-up and clean-up of catered events and performing other similar tasks as required or requested.
  • Stocking and general organizing of products and supplies (straws, utensils, napkins, etc).
  • Perform various culinary duties to provide meals and services to students and guests following exact menu and recipe specifications with established practices and procedures. Responsibilities include food preparation, cook-to-order line service, station set-up, stocking, rotating product and maintaining a clean safe area following sanitation and food allergy regulations and safety standards



Requirements:

General Requirements:

  • Ability to listen to directions and follow through with tasks as explained

  • Good customer service and appropriate communication skills are needed in order to provide a welcoming, professional and safe environment for students and guests.

  • Upon hiring the following additional training must be completed on a yearly basis: Title IX Harassment Prevention training and Data Security Awareness trainingOne year of previous experience in food service is preferred but not required.

  • ServSafe Food Safety training is preferred but not required. If training is not up-to-date, training will be provided and must be completed upon 3-6 months from date of hire.

  • Food allergy training is preferred but not required. If training is not up-to-date, training will be provided and must be completed upon 3-6 months from date of hire.

Direct Food Preparation Requirements:

  • Up to 2 years of work related experience preferred

  • Ability to listen to directions and follow through with tasks as explained

  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification or training is required. If training is not up-to-date, training/certification must be completed upon 3-6 months from date of hire.

  • Food allergy training is essential and prior experience in special food allergy meal preparation is preferred. If candidate does not have prior experience, the necessary training must be completed upon hiring. Initial training will include a review of information, departmental responsibilities and a recap of the Food Allergy Program.

  • Excellent customer service and appropriate communication skills are needed in order to provide a welcoming, professional and safe environment for students and guests.

  • Upon hiring the following additional training must be completed on a yearly basis: Title IX Harassment Prevention training and Data Security Awareness training
