Housekeeping Manager

Position Purpose

The Housekeeping Manager provides leadership to the Housekeeping Team, exceptional customer service to guests on the property, enhances the Francis Ford Coppola Winery company image, and maintains the cleanliness and uniform standards of the Hospitality departments. This position will be responsible for housekeeping operations at the Geyserville campuses. In addition, this role will be requested to consult on projects or with individuals throughout the company.

Functional Responsibility

  • Manages and monitors day-to-day operations and team performance to ensure smooth workflows and that company standards are met
  • Manages company culture and holds self, peers, and direct reports accountable for demonstrating a constructive company culture through influential, personal behavior and actions; encourages strong work ethic and fosters an environment of trust and respect
  • Develops and aligns individual goals with the department's operational goals; ensures that decisions, actions, and priorities are aligned with the company's vision, mission, and strategies
  • Researches best practices, stays abreast of industry trends, and maintains awareness of regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continually improve operations
  • Assists in preparing the departmental budget, monitors spending, and directs team in cost-effective operations to ensure adherence to financial objectives
  • Monitors performance and regularly communicates with direct reports to achieve mutual understanding and desired results
  • Partners with immediate manager to determine staffing needs; attracts, motivates, and retains a workforce with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve goals and objectives
  • Provides employees with a safe, healthy, and rewarding work environment; ensures delivery and completion of monthly safety topics
  • Communicates and supports change initiatives and decisions in an effective manner to successfully guide team through change
  • Fosters a work environment that encourages creative thinking, promotes flexibility, and drives innovation
  • Addresses employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner; notifies HR Business Partner and keeps immediate manager informed as appropriate
  • Ensures compliance and consistent application of company policies, initiatives, and decisions
  • Coaches, guides, and develops direct reports; fully engages in the GPS (Performance Management) process; provides high-quality feedback, and ensures proper GPS documentation of employee performance, recognition, and deficiencies


Essential Duties

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Housekeeping department, which works across three campuses, with hours that are 7 days/week, with multiple shifts, covering 12-15 hours/day
  • Ensures team maintains housekeeping and company standards of front and back of house operations
  • Manages expenses, contracts, vendors, and purchases to budget
  • Suggests innovative ideas for improvements, with goal of streamlining operations and/or decreasing expenses
  • Maintains communications across all departments and personnel, to create a seamless guest experience, team morale, and operations
  • Monitors the condition of all housekeeping, laundry and wardrobe equipment for proper maintenance, cleaning, and repair
  • Communicates maintenance or repair issues across property, as observed
  • Independently manages all vendor relationships for Housekeeping; conducts negotiations for best pricing and supply, assuring consistent inventory for multiple properties of supplies, equipment, and uniforms; sources new vendors, supplies and equipment opportunities
  • Maintains proper records and controls inventory of supplies for multiple properties; included, but not limited to, paper and hygiene products, housekeeping cleaning supplies and equipment, uniforms, PPE, restaurant and poolside napkins and towels and all linens, rags and other essential supplies for the department
  • Works with other department managers on supply and uniform sourcing and invoicing
  • Streamlines housekeeping tasks, projects and goals for efficiency, safety, clear communication of expectations, and strategic use of payroll
  • Assists housekeeping staff as needed to ensure completion of daily duties and to assist and motivate staff
  • Communicates with company visual department and wardrobe consultant as needed where the House Staff operation impacts the visual presentation and uniform standards of the company

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience



  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years experience, preferably working in a hotel, laundry or housekeeping department
  • 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to read and write in Spanish a plus

  • Must be able to research utilizing the internet, consistently work in email as a primary form of communication, and work within vendor systems for ordering
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects under tight time constraints
  • Ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by communicating effectively with clients, carriers, coworkers and management

Working Conditions

  • Winery environment with occasional travel
  • Required to drive automotive vehicle or equipment
  • Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to the elements/temperature variations
  • Exposure to weather-related temperature & humidity extremes
  • Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Work in close quarters or confined spaces
  • Exposure to varying levels of dust, chemicals, fumes, gases, and noisy equipment
  • Occasionally may be required to lift and carry cases of wine
  • Weekends, Holidays, and some evenings required

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is aExemptposition.The pay range for this position is $63,105.12to $98,595.12.

Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity andalignmentwith market data.
