We are searching for a compassionate and empathetic person to join our team as a Grief Support/ Bereavement Assistant. This individual will support the Hospice Program by:



  • Performing bereavement assessments and providing empathetic grief support to bereaved family members reflective of the assessment
  • Planning and directing a variety of bereavement activities
  • Presenting bereavement education programs and assisting with the execution of Camp Angel Wings, a bereavement day-camp experience for children grieving the loss of a loved one.
  • Approaching every patient and family member with kindness and understanding
  • Other duties as needed.


Southcoast Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) has a long history of serving people in our community by helping patients of all ages recover or live well with illness or injury. We provide compassionate and personalized care in comfort and privacy of the home to more than 9,000 patients each year.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:



  • Bachelor degree in a related field (e.g. counseling, pastoral care, social work), or the equivalent knowledge and experience are required.
  • Over three months of related experience, up to and including one year, is required.
  • Minimum of one to three years of clinical experience in the area of loss, grief and bereavement is preferred.
  • Experience in the facilitation of support groups preferred. Group experience and Bereavement/Spiritual Care Support preferred
  • Must possess and demonstrate highly effective interpersonal, customer service and communication skills as well as proficiency in computer skills, including experience with various software, database and electronic records program.


Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19 and seasonal Influenza. Must provide required vaccination documentation, unless approved for an exemption or deferral by Southcoast prior to starting employment.
