PURPOSE

To safely, efficiently and effectively operate a forklift in sorting, shipping, receiving and material handling processes in Bayport.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Adheres to standard work, JBA's, control plans, work instructions and quality specifications. Works with support staff on keeping standard work documents current and relevant to defined output.

  • Complies to safety parameters defined to protect equipment, facility and co-workers.
  • Support and participate in Continuous Improvement and capture daily Safety Interactions.
  • Identify problems and implement fixes for common issues with the use of AMS tools and standards for continuous improvement concepts, and works with the support staff, management and maintenance on corrective action to resolve.
  • Work in a safe manner and follow safe work practices and policies.
  • Rotate as required through multiple duties (sorting, loading/ unloading, checking-in material, cross-docking, transporting material to and from all areas of plant). Engage in cross training to maintain flexibility and adaptability to support resource planning (in P15 job)
  • Follow specific loading/ unloading processes; load units and material without fork damage
  • Create bills of lading, fax invoices, verify deliveries, ensure material is delivered to correct location
  • Stage material for inbound and outbound shipping as well as cross-docked material to all sites of the Enterprise
  • Provides advanced training as needed to other operators and work cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Engineering, Maintenance, Fabrication and Assembly)
  • Assist with training co-workers
  • Support a respectful workplace
  • Perform other assigned tasks thoroughly as assigned by Supervisor or management

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic (or intermediate) computer skills
  • Knowledge of product, process and customer expectations within the value streams (upstream and downstream)
  • Highly specialized knowledge of product and delivery requirements.
  • Ability to read invoices, packing slips, emails and reports to determine correct location for delivery.
  • Must be able to operate multiple types of PIT (forklift, forklift with push/pull attachment, walkie rider, and sit down tuggers).
  • PIT training / PIT license required for all tasks.
  • Minimum 3 years forklift experience
  • Requires the knowledge of all the product types and sizes to be able to maximize the van when loading.
  • Expert forklift ability is required to sort units and handle material from multiple areas throughout the plant.
  • Understanding of Tilt Wash and Casement mulling for specific sorting processes
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds repetitively
  • Ability to access and understand information of off systems/reports to determine appropriate action required (WMS, MES, BAAN, shortage reports, etc.).
  • Ability to successfully complete training matrix.
  • General knowledge of Lockout/Tagout.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, problem solve and utilize teamwork competencies.
  • Dependability/punctuality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY:

* Must be able to stand for 8 hrs

* Must be able to lift 50 lbs

In 2023, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
