Tech Policy Associate, National Security Institute

About the National Security Institute (NSI):

NSI aims to be the intellectual powerhouse supporting a robust American national security posture - dedicated to incorporating a realistic assessment of the threats facing the United States and finding real-world answers to hard national security questions and providing them to policymakers in way they can easily consume. We strive to educate future leaders and to shape the debate on critical issues by providing balance to the public discourse and identifying solutions that both enable a robust national defense and safeguard our constitutional liberties.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the planning of NSI tech policy events, roundtables, and conferences;
  • Supporting the coordination of tech-related Congressional and Executive branch engagements;
  • Assisting with research, writing, and publishing of NSI research and advocacy papers and other written materials;
  • Interacting with NSI leadership, staff, and experts, as well as media, government officials, and the general public;
  • Monitoring tech policy and regulatory activity, including attending events and hearings;
  • Working with the NSI team on long-term strategic projects;
  • Managing administrative activities related to the support of NSI's tech policy programs, including updates and maintenance to websites and basic designing of flyers and infographics; and
  • Supporting NSI team with other tasks and projects as needed.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, with the proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively;
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to interact with persons at all levels, including high-level legal officials and academics, in a professional manner and in different settings;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
  • Superior skills with Microsoft Office suite as well as strong database experience.
