Professional Billing Group (PBG), a part of the UCDHS Financial Services Division, provides billing and collection services for approximately 900 UCD Health System Faculty Physicians.

The Patient Biller provides billing and follow-up functions for the CCMC unit within PBG. Account follow-up, appeals
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in medical billing and reimbursement requirements and procedures including government programs, private third-party insurance, and private individuals
  • Ability to analyze and interpret various types of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and Remittance Advice (RA)
  • Analytical skills to assess account balances and make determination/decision on further action
  • General knowledge of medical terminology in order to correlate reports to actual charges and to determine the appropriateness of denials
  • Ability to compose effective appeal letters for initial and 2nd level appeals to payers
  • General knowledge of credit and collection practices
  • Knowledge of basic accounting practices
  • General knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Insurance Classification of Disease (ICD-10) policies related to medical billing
  • Math skills to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide
Special Requirements
