Responsibilities

The Patient Biller provides billing and follow-up functions for the CCMC unit within PBG. Account follow-up, appeals

Required Qualifications

Experience in medical billing and reimbursement requirements and procedures including government programs, private third-party insurance, and private individuals
Ability to analyze and interpret various types of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and Remittance Advice (RA)
Analytical skills to assess account balances and make determination/decision on further action
General knowledge of medical terminology in order to correlate reports to actual charges and to determine the appropriateness of denials
Ability to compose effective appeal letters for initial and 2nd level appeals to payers
General knowledge of credit and collection practices
Knowledge of basic accounting practices
General knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Insurance Classification of Disease (ICD-10) policies related to medical billing
Math skills to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide
