Scientist, Senior

Key Role:

Provide scientific technical and policy support for federal agencies with responsibilities to enhance the protection of critical infrastructure. Support security, including cyber and surveillance. Support resilience practices at water and wastewater facilities, including supply chain. Support product and guidance development, dissemination, and training. Support preparedness planning, including pandemic illness and chemical security, risk identification, consequence analysis, and emergency response efforts for water infrastructure. Support planning and preparedness initiatives, including laboratory methods, capability, and capacity. Support climate change adaption initiatives. Support source water and water distribution monitoring. Provide programmatic and regulatory support. Provide water resources modeling support.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in environmental programs, including in the areas of water resources, impacts on water, and wastewater systems

  • Experience in working with federal government environmental protection and natural resource programs

  • Knowledge of federal statutes, including Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, America's Water Infrastructure Act, and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

  • Knowledge of Presidential orders and policies affecting water and wastewater infrastructure and resources

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Possession of excellent analysis, client support, and presentation skills

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Toxicology, Microbiology, or Chemistry
