Technical Writer

Key Role:

Write and edit technical documentation, user manuals, and training literature. Apply specific functional, working, and general industry knowledge. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of documentation problems related to complex technical concepts. Work independently with minimal guidance and review or guide the activities of junior employees. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience with disseminating sophisticated or technical concepts in a written format
  • Experience in working with internal and external project stakeholders to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
  • Experience with using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Section 508 Compliance for written content
  • Knowledge of design system and software or page-layout software
  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts quickly and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation, paying strict attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Associate's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Security, including ATO and specification documentation
  • Experience with creating online help guides
  • Knowledge of cloud based systems and applications
  • Ability to create content independently, as requested
  • Ability to synthesize answers and explanations by reading updates entered by systems and software engineers and project managers from a tracking or change management system
  • Bachelor's degree

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

Colorado: $71,400 - $145,800 (annualized USD)

New York (including New York City): $75,000 - $172,300 (annualized USD)
