Climate Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Advisor

Key Role:

Apply subject matter and market knowledge to guide the seeding, growth, and management of publicly financed entrepreneurship programs seeking to launch energy and climate technologies to market. Characterize the state of programming around entrepreneurship, business incubator development, and similar initiatives to nucleate and grow early stage companies and executive teams. Perform program analysis to recommend performance and management targets that guide formation of client investments in entrepreneurship and innovation development activities. Identify leading experts across academia, industry, and national labs in the space, perform programmatic outreach to key stakeholder, and facilitate the formation of new multi-disciplinary small business and entrepreneurship communities. Review funding proposals and support clients to establish selected projects, including advising on project plans and performance milestones for long lead time and complex research and development (R&D) projects. Perform direct, periodic oversight of portfolio projects' activities, from set up to close out, aiding the client in managing projects toward clear and compelling outcomes. Provide constructive critical feedback to support portfolio and project success. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience working in technology-focused business incubators, including non-profits with entrepreneurial programming, climate-focused businesses, public sector innovation programs, or start-ups
  • Knowledge of the climate technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem, including with support infrastructure and mentorship
  • Ability to build the entrepreneurial and management expertise necessary to increase the likelihood of the commercial success of the ventures
  • Ability to understand the technical facets of climate technology-focused ventures at a high level
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, or management field

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in a consulting environment
  • Possession of excellent data-gathering, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Master's degree in a Technical, Management, Engineering, or Policy related field

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

Colorado: $57,260 - $121,520 (annualized USD)
New York (including New York City): $61,350 - $151,900 (annualized USD)
