Energy Data Engineer

The Challenge:

In an increasingly connected world, massive amounts of structured and unstructured data open up new opportunities.

As a data engineer, you can turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges related to power, fuels, water, climate, and critical infrastructure. We have an opportunity for you to collaborate with energy experts and data scientists in exciting, cross functional environments. You will work with your teammates to understand your client's analytical needs and then develop and deploy analytical products that help clients make informed decisions. Working with clients that have varied data environments, you will develop the flexibility to deliver across a wide array of tech stacks. Join Booz Allen's Defense Energy Team as an Energy Data Engineer. You will be working with a collaborative and innovative team of data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers working together to deploy cutting edge modeling and analytics to meet our clients' energy, climate, and resilience needs.

You Have:

  • Experience with creating extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines in parallel processing and distributed compute environments, including Databricks

  • Experience with business intelligence applications, including Tableau or Power BI

  • Knowledge of Python and SQL

  • Knowledge of machine learning, data mining, and statistical analysis

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools

  • Ability to perform data gathering, analytical, and problem-solving work

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience in data engineering in an energy field

  • Experience with public cloud providers, including AWS

  • Experience with DataOps and MLOps

  • Experience with Dashboarding frameworks, including Plotly Dash, or RShiny

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Possession of excellent interpersonal skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science preferred; Master's degree in Data Science a plus
