Job Description:

Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our Endevor team. In this role, you will be a key member of the development team and will focus on building, testing, and supporting leading edge Mainframe solutions used by many of the world's largest companies. We are looking for an engineer who is highly motivated, team oriented and has excellent organization and problem-solving skills. The individual and team goal will be to develop and maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in computer science (BS) and 8+ years of experience required.
  • Technical proficiency in z/OS Assembler (HLASM).
  • Experience in the development of applications on the IBM Mainframe, z/OS.
  • Knowledge of REXX, ISPF, JCL, TSO, IPCS, z/XDC.
  • Practical experience in working on complex software projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand complexities and how components connect and relate to each other.
  • Skilled in providing technical guidance, mentoring and inspiring software engineers.
  • Strong technical knowledge across the industry.
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
  • Demonstrates a growth mind-set, seeks feedback often, and is effective in continuous personal and professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and coding complex modules that meet functional and business requirements on schedule and within budget
  • Perform unit/module testing of software.
  • Participate in test plan reviews.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
  • Evaluate impact of software performance, and recommend changes to software design team.
  • Constantly refine and stay current with emerging themes in software development and testing.
  • Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
  • Provide product content to technical writers.
  • Assist in strategic research and design as directed
  • Provide input to establish and improve departmental processes and procedures.
  • Develop plans outlining steps and time tables for developing programs and communicate plans and status to management and other development team members.
  • Takes intelligent risks and learns from failure.
  • Escalate issues to management as appropriate.
  • Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.
  • Mentor, train, develop and serve as knowledge resource for less experienced Software Engineers

Business Travel and Physical Demands
