Job Description

Visa is seeking a Business Development Manager to join the account team for one of Visa's largest and most complex financial institution clients. This person is responsible for developing, maintaining, and expanding the relationship between Visa and this complex client, with respect to all aspects of client support, sales/account planning, contract management, expense management, and internal and external reporting. The individual filling this role will be expected to develop a deep understanding of the client organization, their business goals, and the array of opportunities for which Visa can participate in delivering or developing solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and assist in the execution of sales strategies/account plans to increase sales volume, market share, expand overall relationship, and achieve/exceed defined product and corporate objectives
  • Identify and develop new sales and revenue generating opportunities, with support from other Account Team members, to deliver exceptional value to the client, while generating incremental revenue to Visa
  • Manage measurement and communication of contractual commitments - answering and troubleshooting client inquires when appropriate
  • Provide operational or technical leadership across multiple responsibilities within sales
  • Prepare proposals and negotiate contractual relationships with the client for deploying Visa products and services
  • Ability to interpret contract language and manage multiple issues simultaneously, ensure adherence to SLA's and contract terms
  • Be an agent of change by challenging the status quo, explore new ways to deliver on our business objectives, implement ideas on behalf of entire team
  • Actively seek ways to expand the scope of the role and client contacts
  • Extensive collaboration and teamwork with key internal Visa partners - particularly NA Operations, Finance, Product and Client Services to execute sales plans and strategies
  • Prepare and deliver global updates as requested to their Account Team Lead
  • Ensure responsive resolution of day to day client inquiries and facilitate collaboration
  • Actively participate and lead various ad-hoc internal projects as assigned
  • Pipeline/Opportunity Management and Reporting for Account Team using MS Dynamics
  • Research and address billing issues/questions in partnership with Client Success team
  • Manage and track client/partner waivers
  • Opportunity support for the team as needed in an ad hoc basis

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • 3+ years Payments and / or sales business experience
  • Experience in treasury and commercial payments
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and execute effectives sales strategies for new payment products and services
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
  • Proven ability to implement strategic initiatives with efficiency, professionalism and with demonstrated trouble shooting/problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence and ability to effectively create and deliver presentations to all audiences up to the executive levels
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external resources and nurture cross functional relationships
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial indicators to measure business performance and an ability to summarize business and financial data in a useful manner for planning and decision making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
