Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The ECT Coordinator is a member of the Nursing Leadership Team and provides administrative and clinical responsibility for functioning of nursing services rendered by this program. Acts as the ECT nursing representative at Holly Hill Hospital on a local and national level. Responsible for the management and coordination of the inpatient and outpatient ECT programs, patient care, and nursing personnel. Provide input for unit fiscal activities. Develops and maintains a competent ECT nursing staff in order to achieve high quality patient care and personnel satisfaction. Actively supports the ECT Program's mission of service, research, and education and the integration of ECT nursing practice. Upholds ECT Nursing Standards of Care for very patient. Responsible and accountable for providing direction and expertise within the arena of ECT nursing on a local and national level. Functions as an ECT clinical manager, case manager, educator, and investigator, a consultant, and a change agent/advocate. Makes clinical judgements based on a synthesis of ECT nursing concepts, principals, models, and theories to solve complex problems. Supervises ECT RN and MHTs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Experience:

  • One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults, adolescents and/or children preferred.
  • One year medical/surgical experience or completion of ECT Fellows Program
  • One year of progressive experience in management and/or supervision

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current North Carolina State Registered Nurse License
  • Current North Carolina Driver's License
  • Current ACLS Certification
  • CPI Certification

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Management skills with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Able to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric, medical, and rehabilitative procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable State and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
  • Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.
  • Proficiency in intravenous therapy
  • Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
  • Ability to collaborate with Medical Director and nursing personnel to develop and implement ECT program goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of indications for Electroconvulsive therapy and related policies and procedures for treatment.
  • Knowledge of case management including but not limited to teaching, home management, counseling, and insurance pre-certification and follow up with patients and families.
