The Satellite Applications team designs and build solutions to help Viasat to get the best performance out of the satellites that power our networks. We are working to provide high-capacity global satellite broadband coverage with our next generation satellites, namely Viasat-3 and others. We work in collaboration with teams spanning multiple domains across Viasat, namely Networking, Systems Engineering, Machine Learning, and other DevOps software teams to engineer solutions for a wide variety of challenges. Job Responsibilities: In this role, you will work with other ML engineers to build data analysis pipelines which utilize complex data sets to monitor and analyze various metrics. With an array of statistical analysis tools as your disposal, you will have the opportunity to design experiments to determine causality while designing and creating predictive algorithms, among many other things. Finally, you will coordinate with software teams as they work to deliver software products using these algorithms/models. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or related field) or related experience 5+ years of industry experience in software development, machine learning and/or distributed systems. Experience with Python/Spark and SQL Experience applying linear programming to solve business challenges Experience working with diverse and disparate datasets. Experience with docker, ansible, or airflow Ability to communicate and present data to technical & non-technical audiences Experience collaborating with other team members US Citizenship or permanent residency required Preferences: Experience building ML/DL models & supporting infrastructure (training & inference). Experience developing software solutions with C/C++ or similar language Experience with spatial/GIS processing (postgis, rasters/GDAL, pyproj, shapely) Knowledge of communication & networking protocols Experience with visualization frameworks such as plot.ly/D3, Matplotlib, bokeh/seaborn, or similar. For Colorado-based jobs only: The minimum for this position is $146,750 annually; however, base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
