Responsibilities

The Network Security Engineer is a member of the Cybersecurity Team with a strong emphasis on Security Operations such as Firewall/IPS Administration, Patch Management, Threat and Vulnerability Management, and making recommendations for mitigating various security risks. Additionally, the Network Security Engineer is responsible for the continual support, maintenance, and implementation of NISA's network infrastructure.

The candidate for this position is one who enjoys working not only with Networking/Security but is also willing to adopt various other technologies that the Cybersecurity Team supports. This position requires the ability to take a lead role on projects (small and large) and following through to completion as well as mentoring other team members when needed.

    Secure and monitor NISA's infrastructure and systems, identify and recommend infrastructure upgrades and improvements based upon industry best practices, address security gaps/vulnerabilities, and stay abreast of the latest security trends
  • Perform vulnerability scans or penetration testing efforts with remediation, participate in IT security audits, and work with the various teams on firmware and software patching efforts
  • Architect and design Enterprise Cisco Routing, Switching, and ASA Administration (Provisioning, Deployment, Configuration, Monitoring & Reporting)
  • Troubleshoot network issues/anomalies, plan, test and perform software/firmware upgrades, assess and review environment/configuration, make improvement recommendations, implement best practice and secure configurations, monitor network performance and take preemptive measures to minimize interruptions, create and maintain documentation as it relates to network and systems security
  • Coordinate with business units to understand functional requirements to maintain stable and scalable infrastructure. Monitor and report on all critical infrastructure components that have high impact on business operation


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 plus years of relevant network security experience required
  • Familiarity with the most current networking hardware, software, and services
  • Experience with the infrastructure management in modern data center
  • 3 plus years of Cisco Routing/Switching/ASA/IPS experience preferred
  • Cisco CCNP or CCNP-level equivalent experience strongly desired
  • CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC or equivalent holders or be willing to work towards certification
  • Cisco Wireless and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) experience also a plus
