About the Opportunity

This individual serves as a technical expert in the network team and is responsible for technical design, planning, implementation, security and maintenance of server farm, and other application platforms as assigned. Engage and collaborate with members of the college community by providing excellent customer service in alignment with Ellucian core values. This individual receives general direction from the Network Manager and is expected to operate and deliver on projects with a high level of autonomy.

Where you will make an impact:

  • Windows / Linux server administration/maintenance including:
    • Sourcing and applying system updates
    • System monitoring and performance tuning
    • Log analysis, retention, and cleanup
    • User access management including user creation, password resets, group membership, and other duties as assigned
    • System security and configuration hardening
    • Build and deploy new application server instances and assist in maintaining virtual and physical server environments as needed
    • New application installation/integration, testing, and deployment
    • Work with team members to execute application system Disaster Recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
    • On-call support as needed including some after-hours / weekend supportin accordance with established client SLA
  • Ellucian Colleague application administration
    • Work with the onsite team to source and install application patches
    • Monitor application connections and stop/start services to restore connectivity
    • Edit application configuration files and modify file permissions
    • Responsible for maintaining application and data integrity
    • Work with team members to ensure proper application and database backups are performed and retained in accordance with client requirements
    • Build and maintain a deep understanding of the Ellucian suite of products, systems, and services to respond to client needs/requests
    • Provide break/fix troubleshooting and support as needed
  • Network application suite administration / IAM administration
    • Collaborate with other network personnel to troubleshoot, isolate, and diagnose network problems with limited system-wide impact. Review possible solutions proposed by the network team.
    • Assist in resolving all network issues to ensure continuity of network operations. Collectively implement solutions, which have broad implications for the entire network.
    • Track, test, and deploy new platform features and functionality as they become available
    • Work with team members to secure communications and data stored within cloud applications to prevent data leakage and provide recommendations to ensure their ongoing security
    • Provide expertise concerning Single Sign-On configuration and management including technologies used, best practices, and security concerns.
    • Assist in monitoring security of the network, provide appropriate user access, and detect any attempted intrusions to network.
    • Install and test necessary software and hardware in accordance with standards-based settings and Ellucian Change Management processes.

What you will bring

  • Ability to interface with clients and provide prompt, professional, and courteous service to resolve support issues
  • Red Hat 7.x administration experience
  • MS Windows Server 2012-2019 administration experience
  • Microsoft Active directory (User/Computer Account Admin, Group Policies
  • Working knowledge of the Ellucian Colleague platform and related products/services
  • G Suite for Education administration experience
  • Data Backup systems (Commvault preferred)
  • Experience managing a cloud-based IAM solution (i.e Okta, OneLogin)
  • Adaptable self-motivated problem solver that is flexible and comfortable solving technical problems in a fast-paced environment.

Extra Credit:

  • Hands-on experience administering Red Hat / CentOS / Windows within an enterprise server environment. 3 or more years preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Ellucian Colleague application platform and partner solutions.
  • Direct experience with underlying and supportive technologies such as Apache Tomcat, Java, IIS, and Docker preferred.
  • MS Windows Server 2012-2019 administration experience. 2 or more years preferred.
  • Experience building and deploying virtual application servers within an enterprise VMware ESXi environment.
  • G Suite for Education administration experience including user/group creation and management, email relay configuration, content compliance, vault ediscovery, Chromebook management and deployment, and expertise in the suite of collaboration apps including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Script. Senior level expertise or certification preferred.
  • Hands-on experience administering OneLogin SSO including directory integration, app connector configuration/deployment, user mapping, user provisioning and MFA rollout. Working knowledge of SAML, LDAP, XML, and JavaScript preferred.
  • Knowledge of Higher Education business practices and procedures.
  • Self-motivated problem solver that is flexible and comfortable contributing cross-functionally in a fast-paced enterprise technology environment.
