Senior State Tax Manager

We are looking for a remote State and Local Senior Tax Manager to manage our state tax function. You will be responsible for managing state and local tax matters related to compliance, provision, research, planning and controversy.

As a Senior State Tax Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing state and local tax filings to ensure timely and accurate filing.
  • Managing the gathering of apportionment and completing a review.
  • Determining the nexus for each filing entity.
  • Managing the relationship with third-party providers preparing state income tax filings.
  • Managing the state tax blended rate computation for quarterly provision reporting. and assist the Federal tax provision team in the recording of quarterly journals.
  • Reviewing and sign-off on quarterly account reconciliations related to state payable and deferreds.
  • Researching state and local income tax issues and changes in tax laws.
  • Responding to state tax notices and resolving issues.
  • Assisting Tax Controversy team in state tax audits.
  • Leading state planning opportunities.
  • Identifying areas of process improvement through the utilization of technology.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Have a minimum of 8 years of state and local tax experience.
  • Have extensive experience using Corptax compliance
  • Have OneSource Tax Provision experience
  • Be proficient in Excel
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Be able to analyze and resolve problems
  • Be able to lead, document, plan, market, and execute programs/projects

Desired Characteristics

  • HFM experience
  • A combination of public accounting and corporate experience
  • Understanding of ASC 740 principles
