Overview

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care located in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a Program Manager, Indigenous Health.

The Program Manager is responsible for the overall development, management, oversight, and implementation of program activities, to include project initiatives, documents, program planning, and day-to-day operations. Focus on developing objectives and strategies to assess program progress, growth and business needs. Define and oversee projects needed to reach targeted goals. Network and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Make independent judgments to assess, interpret, and respond to the needs of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

    Serve as the point of contact for the American Indian Alaska Native Committee at ACOG.
  • Work directly with federal and public health leadership to execute work related to quality and safety in obstetrical care provided by IHS.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support educational activities to support rural and IHS provider skills and competency training.
  • Plan, support, and attend site visits to IHS and tribal facilities and generate required reports.
  • Present and participate in panel discussions, workshops, seminars, and other activities at conferences and events. Answer audience questions and interact with members of the public.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate medical or public health projects and outreach activities, materials, and events.
  • Lead and administrate workgroups focused on materials development as needed.
  • Identify, track, monitor, and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, variances and contingencies that may arise during implementation and execution to ACOG leadership.
  • Review ACOG indigenous health work for continuous quality improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in messaging and other communication regarding indigenous health as requested.
  • Attend significant IHS and stakeholder meetings as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Program to address maternal morbidity and mortality in indigenous communities.
  • Assist other program staff with special projects and meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, health-related, or healthcare administration field required, master's degree in health-related field, quality improvement experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical or public health experience, ideally with indigenous communities or other marginalized populations. Clinical healthcare professional with experience in maternal-child health preferred.
  • PMP certification, CPPS, or RNC-OB preferred.
  • Experience in working with state-local public health systems and community-based organizations preferred. Experience with national public health programming and understanding of IHS structure preferred.
  • Experience in sustaining and fostering public/private partnerships preferred.
  • Broad understanding of issues regarding access to and quality of obstetrical and gynecologic health services.
  • Strong written and communication skills; demonstrated public speaking skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to exercise independent judgment, prioritize and implement multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Strong computer skills including aptitude in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and content management systems.
  • Ability to travel, sometimes overnight and for several days.
