Accounting/Financial Analyst

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Develop, perform, and manage the analyses of business and financial metrics as well as performance measures
  • Develop and maintain financial reports to clearly communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to plan, forecast and budget
  • Work closely with the business to develop, recommend, and establish strategies, plans, and processes to improve profitability and cost efficiencies
  • Participate in various improvement initiatives to maximize efficiency
  • Design innovative, analytical, and fully automated reports and solutions
  • Designs, develops, tests, documents, and maintains database queries and data analysis
  • Perform data analysis on case level issues monthly

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of progressive work experience in finance or accounting environment
  • Effective data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Ability to gain acceptance for ideas, plans, actions and then implement flawlessly across organizational boundaries


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials
  • Experience with ledger transaction/GL entries
  • Experience with Project Management
  • Experience driving business performance in a high growth environment
  • Experience with Medicare & Retirement Line of Business
  • Work experience anticipating accounting, financial reporting, forecasting and operational issues, assessing their implications and developing and implementing an appropriate action plan
  • Intermediate experience (or higher) in SAS and/or SQL
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple requests, assessing priorities and achieving solutions under deadlines
  • Demonstrates the drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on thorough analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
