Senior process engineer is responsible for developing, standardizing, and improving manufacturing processes in our manufacturing engineering department. Supporting new product development, being a key stakeholder or lead on projects, working cross-functionally with other engineering departments and exhibiting best practices within the manufacturing team. Responsibilities


  • Responsible for products and processes within the plant through all levels of the value stream: component qualification, process qualification, manufacturing, customer problem resolution.
  • Proposes, justifies, and manages large scale improvement projects with a significant business impact involving enhancements for processes, products, and equipment.
  • Research and benchmark new technologies and production methods.
  • Investigates, recommends, and deploys new equipment to improve processes.
  • Lead resolution to systemic customer related items through problem solving and collaboration with customers.
  • Investigates and determines root cause and corrective action to manufacturing and production issues.
  • Lead Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and all other improvement events, help implement the resulting changes, and ensure changes are sustained and built upon.
  • Develop methods in production to reduce the cost of poor quality and RPPM.
  • Work with suppliers to evaluate, qualify and implement process changes. Work with Quality to identify and notify customers of the changes.
  • Make manufacturing processes more robust and reduce variation through process design, tooling, fixturing and poke yoke methods. Create / modify documentation and visual controls as necessary.
  • Guides, directs and oversees PFMEA, Design of Experiments and SPC data usage as required for ensuring consistent process control.
  • Conduct other process improvement activities including manufacturing yield improvement, qualification of assembly and test equipment and approval of processes for New Product Development activities.
  • Maintains standards and routings for manufacturing site processes with recommendations for continuous improvement relating to resource usage, quality, and interchangeability.
  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality to implement process controls (including but not limited to SPC) as appropriate.
  • Lead and coach others in the use of advanced Six Sigma tools to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) and minimize process variability.
  • Provide process tool expertise to all levels of the organization
  • Acts as a mentor and coach for less experienced engineers and technician. Qualifications

  • BS degree in an engineering or technical discipline. Masters preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience
  • Knowledgeable in advanced problem solving methods and determining root cause (Six Sigma Green Belt required, Black Belt preferred)
  • Knowledge of continuous flow, cellular manufacturing and JIT material control
